Meet Subhamita

Music was in her veins as Subhamita was born in a musical family. She brought a tide of melody with the voice in the globe of Bengali music industry. .

Her father, Shri Joshoda Dulal Das, a classical vocalist was her first guru. Her learning was deeply rooted in Indian classical music. Her inevitable talent was fairly blessed with the ‘talim’ of celebrated Gurus like Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar of Jaipur Gwalior Gharana, Shri Aniruddha Bhattacharya of Kirana Gharana and Vidushi Purnima Chowdhury of Banarasi style Purab Ang Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Kajri traditions.

By 2003-04 the Bengali music lovers had already been aware of the musical competence of Subhamita. Ace singer ace song writer and composer Nachiketa had played a very crucial role in bringing out her genius per excellence. In the meantime HMV release of her full length classical vocal recordings (Khyal) proved that her flair is multidimensional.

In academics Subhamita did no less either having completed Graduation with Hons. in English from Calcutta University and Masters in English from Rabindra Bharati University in the year 1998 beside her musical exploits .

Her calm and soothing personality creates and aura of melody when she renders in her mellifluous and confident voice. Subhamita does not “just” sing !!!
